Crestron Brings Intelligent Video Features to Crestron Flex Via Jabra, Huddly

Crestron is partnering with Jabra and Huddly to add intelligent video features to the Crestron Flex platform, including people counting, face framing and more.

The company pitches the partnership – which includes support for the two companies’ cameras on the Crestron Flex platform – as a hybrid work play designed to facilitate equitable and productive meetings, regardless of where employees are.

According to Crestron, intelligent audio and video features in room systems paired with software innovations from providers like Microsoft Teams and Zoom are designed to ensure all meeting participants can contribute and collaborate productively, whether they are in the room or a remote location.

The company says the Crestron Flex platform “ties it all together” by providing purpose-built devices for every space and application.

Other features of this partnership and the addition of intelligent video integration to the Crestron Flex platform include:

  • People counting, face framing and full-room view features that recognize each in-room participant and provide a single image of each participant, as well as a full room view so all participants – remote and in-person – have an equal seat at the table.
  • Whiteboard Sharing feature that enables participants to view and share content from up to three whiteboards digitally and extend the functionality and usability of whiteboard collaboration to outside the room.
  • The ability to capture data and analytics of room use, occupancy and people counting to provide better insight on how spaces are being used and adherence to social distancing guidelines.

In a press release, the company said the modern office is not going anywhere, citing Google’s recent real estate acquisition: the purchase of a New York City office building for $2.1 billion.

“Among the many things we’ve learned as individuals continue to work remotely and return-to-office, is video conferencing and collaboration is at the center of the modern workplace. As we saw last week with Google’s real estate acquisition the corporate office is not going away, so we have to make the experiences better for everyone,” said Alex Peras, director of UC & corporate development at Crestron. “Adding immediate support for Jabra and Huddly cameras helps build on our mission to ensure an immersive and equitable meeting experience, regardless of where participants join from.”
