Optoma Announces New Ultra Bright Projector Series

Optoma has announced their brightest projectors yet—the ZU1700, ZU1900, and ZU2200—all part of their new Ultra Bright Series. Previously Optoma’s highest output projector was their now-discontinued 2016 model WU1500 rated at 11,000 lumens.

The Optoma ZU2200, ZU1900, and ZU1700 all use the same chassis.

The new ZU2200 comes in with a rated brightness of 18,500 ANSI lumens. The ZU1900 and ZU1700 are rated at 16,000 ANSI and 14,500 ANSI lumens, respectively. All three projectors use Optoma’s DuraCore laser technology, which is an IP5X light engine with a lifetime of 30,000 hours. With Extreme Black enabled, that turns the laser off when a full black image is detected, the projectors have a rated contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. All projectors support passive 3D.

The ZU1700, ZU1900, and ZU2200 are DLP projectors that all have a native WUXGA (1920×1200) 16:10 resolution and are compatible with 4K HDR signals. They can be outfitted with eight different interchangeable lenses that range from the 0.65-0.75:1 short throw BX-CTA11 up to the 7.2-10.8:1 long throw BX-CTA27 (screen size capability is dependent on the lens used). The built-in Visual Suite software will use an integrated camera for easy image adjustment, calibration, and warping and blending in multi-projector setups. The high-brightness projectors can be placed in any orientation for an install. Visual Suite will be available in early 2022 via a projector firmware update.

Announced last week, the new Optoma projectors include the Optoma Management Suite (OMS). The Suite allows for multiple displays across a network to be monitored and diagnosed off-site. The software can send out alerts of any problems at any time, display custom messages across all projectors through a built-in scheduler, or control energy usage by turning off the projectors during off hours. OMS is compatible with a range of Optoma flat panels, LED displays, and projectors in addition to any projectors that use PJLink technology.

The connections panel on the three projectors is identical, including inputs for two HDMI, VGA, DVI-D, 3G-SDI, DisplayPort, HDBaseT, RJ45, USB for service, and a 12V trigger. There are outputs for HDMI and 3G-SDI, in addition to in/outs for a wired remote, 3D sync, and RS232.

The three projectors measure 9.84 x 25.59 x 27.95 inches (HWD). The ZU1700 and ZU1900 have a net weight of 110.23 pounds, while the ZU2200 weighs 119.05 pounds.

The projectors are available now through authorized resellers.
